Our tours that include Ol Pejeta Conservancy are perfect for wildlife & conservation enthusiasts, elephant
foster parents & ‘would-be supporters’ of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
You will experience a 2-night Wildlife Safari with game drives within the Conservancy plus a private visit to the ‘last two’ Northern White Rhinos; a sub-species now considered extinct in the wild.
On returning to Nairobi you will visit the Giraffe Centre,
and The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s Elephant Orphanage in Nairobi on an exclusive private basis mingling with the ‘nursery orphan herd’ while chatting with their Head Keeper.
You will then transfer to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s Reintegration Units in Tsavo whilst staying at the SWT’s private Eco-Camps; Ithumba Camp or Ithumba Hill Camp, Galdessa Camp in Voi (on selected tours only) and Umani Springs. Here you will
learn more about the ‘Orphans Project’ and experience being ‘up close and personal’ with the orphaned elephants
and their Keepers, often accompanied by ex-orphans and wild elephants.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy Kenya is within easy access to the frontier town of Nanyuki and only three hours north of Nairobi. Ol Pejeta Conservancy is one of the most convenient wildlife destinations in Laikipia and Kenya. “Ol Pej,” as it is fondly called, is a 360 km2 (140 mi2) non-profit conservancy of flat savannah interspersed with occasional acacia trees and riverine woodland, all with the iconic backdrop of Mount Kenya behind.
This conservation-minded working ranch has all Big Five present as well as one of East Africa’s most successful rhino conservation projects, it is home to the very ‘last two’ remaining Northern white rhinos. Here you can spend your days on Game Drives, Lion Tracking and a Private Visit to meet the legendary & Last Two Northern White Rhinos; a sub-species now considered extinct in the wild. Ol Pejeta Conservancy boasts an astounding variety of wildlife including the endangered Black Rhinos, White Rhinos, the rare Grevy’s Zebra & the Jackson’s Hartbeest.
The best time to visit Ol Pejeta is in Kenya’s dry seasons, from June to September, cool and dry or January to February hot and dry, but lush and green. The climate in Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia is cool and temperate and temperatures are uniform throughout the year as a result of being so close to the equator. Daytime temperatures can reach 22- 26°C/75°F while it cools off considerably at night.
