SHELDRICK WILDLIFE TRUST CAMPS

PRIVATELY OWNED ECO-CAMPS

Accommodation fees for these privately owned Eco-Camps, go directly to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust & contribute towards KWS conservation initiatives, protecting and conserving this pristine, remote wilderness in Tsavo, where general tourists are not permitted. Here we seek the animals rather than expecting to see them at the roadside, the area is suited to those who savour the unspoilt aspect of a truly wild place, under big skies and a million stars.

ITHUMBA CAMP

The “original” camp to be built following the creation of the Ithumba Rehabilitation Unit. This camp is rustic simplicity at it’s very best providing well equipped twin-bedded Safari-Style Tents under thatched canopies with ensuite alfresco rock shower areas, a stylish Mess Building and a newly installed swimming pool. One can enjoy watching wildlife activity at the small waterhole and the spectacular sunsets for which Tsavo is known. Guests can enjoy exclusive access to the Ithumba Reintegration Unit.

ITHUMBA HILL CAMP

A luxurious & elegantly designed camp built high against Ithumba Hill boasting an infinity pool with far reaching views across Tsavo to the Yatta Plateau. The camp offers twin-bedded Safari-Style Tents set on decks linked by raised timber walk-ways under thatched canopies, each with a private external alfresco shower area. Being on an elevated position the approach to some areas are very steep, therefore not particularly suited to disabilities. Guests can enjoy exclusive access to the Ithumba Reintegration Unit.

GALDESSA CAMP

A beautiful and luxurious camp set on the banks of the Galana River in the southern territory of Tsavo East National Park where guests can relax, watching wildlife at the water’s edge from the comfort of camp. Offering large Safari-Style Tents under thatched canopies, ensuite internal shower rooms, private decks and a swimming pool directly overlooking the River. Guests will experience exclusive access to the Voi elephant orphans at their daily mud bath plus wildlife game drives within the Park but please note driving time from Galdessa Camp to visit the Voi Orphans takes approximately 1.5 hours.
